Horseradish Sauce

Horseradish sauce is a pungent and spicy tasting condiment made from horseradish root and served as a sauce for meat, a dressing for sandwiches or as a topping for appetisers. Processed horseradish sauce is commonly combined with mustard oil to intensify its spicy hot flavour and to stabilise its pungency.

Creamed horseradish is a strongly-flavoured, creamy blend of horseradish, vinegar and cream mixed to a slightly runny consistency. This traditional, tangy accompaniment to roast beef may also be served with steaks or beef stews.

Horseradish hot sauce is a mix of horseradish and vegetable oil, with a stronger flavour and thicker consistency than creamed horseradish. It may be stirred into mashed potatoes for a tangy flavour, and is ideal for serving with well-flavoured fish such as sturgeon, mackerel or tuna or with venison.

Once opened, horseradish sauce may be stored in the fridge for up to a year.
