Thai Fragrant Rice
Also known as jasmine rice, this aromatic variety of long grain rice has a subtle jasmine fragrance when cooked. It is somewhat similar to Indian basmati rice, but with slightly stickier grains. It has a delicate, yet flavourful taste that does not compete with other ingredients in a recipe, making it ideal for Thai-style curries or spicy dishes.

Jasmine rice is usually white, although there are also brown varieties available that retain the bran layer. Although this makes the rice more nutritious, it takes longer to cook and has a chewier consistency.
