Woodcock

The woodcock has a long, distinctive beak and a gently dappled and speckled brown plumage. Its omnivorous diet of heather, moss, insects and worms makes it a plump bird with a good deal of meat for its size - enough to feed one person.

Woodcock is roasted whole, complete with beak and then served on toast. Its head is split open to expose the brains, which are considered a delicacy.
