Rambutans

Also known as the hairy lychee, a rambutan is larger than a lychee and has a crimson-red coloured skin covered with soft hairy spines. Underneath the spiky shell lies pearly-white translucent flesh with a juicy consistency and slightly acidic flavour.

Rambutans are excellent either on their own or in fruit salads. Alternatively they may be eaten with cheese.
