Redcurrants
Along with the blackcurrant and whitecurrant, the redcurrant is part of the gooseberry family. The bright-red translucent berries grow like grapes in clusters of 3-10 fruits, each of them approximately 1 cm in diameter.

With a sweet to tart flavour, these juicy berries may be eaten fresh with sugar and milk, or coated in a vanilla custard to take the edge off the acid. They are also particularly good when combined with other fruits, such as a summer pudding. However, they are most commonly used to make redcurrant jelly; a sweet-sharp sauce that is delicious when eaten with lamb, game, red cabbage or ham.
