Blackberries
Blackberries (also known as brambles) are a juicy, sweet yet tangy berry, exceptionally rich in vitamin C. They remain sour for a long time after turning their dark purple or black colour, and are only fully ripe when they are soft to the touch.

Generally available from September to November, blackberries may be used to make jellies, mousses, fools, pies and crumbles, and go particularly well with apple dishes. They may also be eaten fresh or stewed with sugar and cream.
