Berry Crossbreeds
There are a number of berry hybrids that have been designed to combine the best qualities of some of our favourite eating berries. They can all be made into a range of cooked and uncooked desserts and preserves.
Loganberries
A cross between a blackberry and a raspberry, the loganberry looks like a long dark red or purple raspberry with none of the troublesome seeds that blackberries can have. It has sharp, tart flavour that is more acidic than the blackberry but less intense than the raspberry. It needs plenty of sugar if it is to be eaten raw.

Boysenberries
A hybrid of a blackberry, a raspberry and a loganberry, the reddish-black boysenberry is similar in taste and shape to the raspberry. However, it is usually twice or even three times the size of its ancestors.

Marionberries
A cross between the wild and the cultivated blackberry, the marionberry is a scarlet to black sweet-tart berry.

Tayberries
The tayberry is a blackberry-raspberry cross, bred in Scotland. It is large and scarlet-red with a tart flavour.
