Dried Apples
Apples have long been a popular fruit for drying; usually processed in cored ring, they may be soaked to reconstitute and then used in a range of recipes. They may be stewed slowly with lemon, cinnamon or cloves to make a compote, mixed with currants and sultanas into a cake mixture or added to prunes, blanched almonds and dried apricots to make a winter fruit salad. Alternatively, they may be chopped up whilst still dry and mixed with rolled oats, raisins and nuts to make a deliciously healthy muesli.
