Macadamia Nuts

These round, hard-shelled nuts are native to Australia (where they are also known as the Queensland nut), but are now also grown in Central America, Hawaii, California and Florida. Their hard shell may be cracked open to reveal a sweet and buttery tasting nut with a waxy texture. They are available roasted and salted for snacking and serving with drinks, or raw for chopping and adding to biscuits, cakes, sweets and puddings. Macadamias contain no cholesterol and are extremely low in saturated fats.
