Kumquats
Originating in Japan, kumquats look like small, grape-sized oranges. They are usually eaten whole, complete with their thin skin, or alternatively, may be bottled, unpeeled, in heavy syrup or made into preserves. The tart, sour-orange flavour of the inner flesh is balanced by the sweet tasting rind, both of which work well when served with wild game, poultry, beef, or pork.
