Oily Fish

Oil-rich fish are those that contain oil throughout their fillet, rather than just in their liver like other fish. This oil is an excellent source of vitamins A and D as well as being rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, and consequently, the consumption of oily fish has been identified as being beneficial to our health. The Food Standards Agency has recommended that we eat 1 or 2 portions of oily fish such as mackerel, herring or sardines at least once a week.

In this section, we take a look at the selection of oil-rich fish that we can add to our diet.
