Whole Milk
Whole milk, also known as full-fat milk, is milk that has been left with its natural cream intact. Most supermarket whole milk is homogenised; however, if you buy your milk from the milkman, you will be able to see the rich creamy layer that rises to the top of the bottle. The cream can be shaken back into the milk or poured off and used on breakfast cereals or in coffee.
With a fat content of 4%, whole milk has one of the best flavours of all the different varieties of milk. The creamiest milk comes from Jersey and Guernsey cows.
Whole milk is sold in the following ways:
- Cartons with a blue label
- Plastic bottles with a blue cap
- Glass bottles with a silver foil top
- Glass bottles with a red foil top (homogenised whole milk)
