Long-Life Milk
Long life milks are designed to be stored unopened for much longer than ordinary pasteurised milks, so are ideal for camping, travelling, picnics, or wherever refrigeration facilities are limited.
Most long life milks are pasteurised, homogenised and then held at a high temperature to destroy all the bacteria. However, this process tends to lend them a slightly sweet taste due to the caramelisation of the sugar (lactose) in milk. Once opened, they will keep only as long as fresh milk.
