Grissini (Breadsticks)

Known also more simply by their English name 'breadsticks', grissini are long, thin sticks of bread with a fine texture, baked and dried until crisp. They are prepared using strong white wheat flour which is made into an elastic dough that can be easily shaped into a long stick shape, before coating with extra virgin olive oil and baking. The breadsticks may also be rolled in sesame seeds, herbs or Parmesan cheese before they are cooked.

Grissini are often served as an appetiser with drinks or before a meal, or served with the main meal in place of bread.
