Cob

A cob loaf is large, rounded, plain loaf that is baked on a flat surface in an oven or hearth. It is usually made from wholemeal flour, white flour or a combination of the two, with a sprinkling of crushed wheat on top. In France, this shape of bread is known as 'boule'.
