Salad Spinners

The most basic salad spinner consists of a large wire basket in the shape of a balloon into which washed leafy salads are placed. The basket is then whirled in a vertical circle so that the water is driven out by centrifugal force. This, of course, must be done outside.
For those of us who prefer a less energetic way to dry our salad leaves, there is a far simpler, and less messy, solution. The freshly washed leaves are placed in a basket that fits into a plastic bowl, which is then enclosed by a lid. The lid has a handle, which when turned, spins the basket rapidly, thus driving out all the water.
