An electric, thermostatically controlled deep-fat fryer is the safest way to deep-fry at home, with the additional benefit of taking the guesswork and odour out of the process. The machine allows you to set the precise temperature needed for the type of food you're frying and indicates when it is ready for use.
Choose a fryer with a filter to reduce steam and odours caused by frying. It is also a good idea to select a model that comes apart for easy cleaning - especially if the components are dishwasher-proof. Other handy features include:
- Drain hose: Allows you to drain the oil easily.
- Viewing window: Enables you to view the food whilst cooking is in progress without interrupting the frying.
- Safety locking lid: Particularly useful if you have children.
