Coffee Machines

Having your own coffee machine means that you can enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee at any time of the day. There are machines that make filter coffee, espresso, cappuccino or all three. Here are just some of the features to look out for:

  • Capacity
The maximum number of cups of coffee the machine can make.
  • Strength control
Enables you to set the exact strength of your coffee.
  • Coffee filter
May be a single-use paper filter or a permanent nylon filter. The latter option is more convenient and economical.
  • Water filter
Prevents the build up of limescale on the heating element and in the coffee maker and improves the flavour of the coffee.
  • Automatic descaler
Helps to prolong the life of the machine by automatically removing scale after each use.
  • Removable water tank
    Makes for easy filling.
  • Water level indicator
Enables you to add just the right amount of water for the number of cups you want to make.
  • Pump action
Used for espresso and cappuccino machines. Pump machines force water through the coffee using an internal pump. This force is more intense than a steam machine and results in a higher quality and better tasting coffee.
  • Pressure
Used for espresso and cappuccino machines. The higher the number of bars of pressure, the better the quality of coffee.

Before you buy a coffee machine, check that the instructions are easy to follow. Whilst some cappuccino and espresso machines may look very stylish, they can be remarkably difficult to operate.
