How to Cook Fried Eggs

Always fry eggs in clean fat; using fat from bacon or sausages will cause the egg to stick and the yolk more likely to break.

Method

  1. Melt equal amounts of butter and oil over a low heat - use enough to be able to spoon over the eggs.
  2. Break the egg into a cup or saucer, and then slide them into the hot fat.
  3. Reduce the heat, and then fry for about 3-5 minutes, basting the top of the eggs with the hot fat to prevent the edge of the white from overcooking before the thicker parts are set.
